45 DAYS…SO WHAT ARE WE DOING NOW?

So with just 45 day to go until we leave, you may be wondering what are we doing now? Well, at the moment, Bj is in Chicago with his brother and friend celebrating his impending nuptials! Me? I’m dog-sitting, and well, typing this blog. Last night my good friend Brendalyn helped me “repack” 3 of our barrels that I was pretty certain I had done a good job of packing already. But with her help I was able to fit almost twice as much as we had already packed! Now we have about 2.5 barrels left to fill. With what? Well….STUFF. See, items that we normally get at a dollar store or Wal-Mart cost way more in Guyana. So the trick is to get as much as you can and ship it down there so you don’t waste your hard saved money on those things. This way, when we get down there we can use our money for rent, transportation, food, you know life!

This weekend we will be buying more supplies such as bug repellant, sun screen, sponges, bed linens, umbrellas, etc.

See, on Sunday, September 15th, Bj will have to drive our barrels down to Illinois to a warehouse where they will then ship our barrels to Miami and then to Georgetown, Guyana. So after 9/14/13….we will no longer be able to buy anything else for our trip. From that moment on, anything we have will have to travel with us by airplane. And as it stands, we are checking 3 suitcases and our folding bike. And we will have one carry on luggage each. So from 9/15 until we leave, we will essentially be living out of just 3 suitcases of items.

I can hardly believe the time has rolled by this quickly, but we are so busy that each day just passes into the next.

Well this is all for today….my next post —> “Preparing to leave our homeland” …………….STAY TUNED.
